I freaking wish but close i belive were switchin the title over tonight. its a 1978 f-150 ranger. not 2 wheel drive =( and it has a inline 6 300 ci. Its all in good shape just needs some lovin ahahah and some paint and a new clutch.
Congrats, those were good ol engines. Be sure to pop a new brass freeze plug in the rear of that engine while you got-er apart doing the clutch. It'd be a bummer to have to tear it all back down again later for a couple dollar part...
Woo 300-6. Got the same engine in my '82. Has some balls compared to modern small truck engines, and more torque than a 302 from the same time period IIRC. What trans do you have?
Lol little late suburban hahah we already established what it is ahahha.
And im not sure yet i didnt take that good of a look at the trans from underneath i looked more at the frame and just a quick look over at stuff. Im sure its either a c4 or c6. I havent figured out howmany gears or anything like that but when i get it home tomorrow ill figure it out.
Well i picked it up lastnight at 9 at night in the pouring down rain....that was fun used two come alongs to get it on the trailer and to get it off we pushed it off and threw a log behind the rear wheel to stop it. I will have pictures when i get home tonight and i have the battery on the charger and im going to see if that little 6 will start.
Pour some ATF down the carb before you crank it. When the truck has sit for a while there won't be any lubrication left on the cylinder walls, and the ATF will give it some top end lube when you crank it.
I got her to crank over all the electrical works except the radio and the rear right turn signal. I found out why its not running the fuel pump is dead so i went to autozone ordered one cause they didnt have it in stock so i should be able to pick it up tomorrow morning. I cleaned all the windows and small stuff like that. tomorrow im going to put the new fuel pump in and compression check each cylinder. I did get it to fire over by dumping fuel in the carburetor.
175,000 miles on the engine and i figured out its not the origional radiator. lol the origonal is bigger then the on in there now thats why the farmer i got it from used a no smoking sign to hold the radiator on ahaha.
