Latest updates...

Spacers arrived and wheels are mounted, the rear track is exactly 1" wider than previous configuration...I have them pushed all the way to the flange. The fronts I currently have set all the way inboard and will adjust outward once I re-mount the body.

Had a crazy time with BMI Karts who I ordered the hubs and wheels from, they were supposed to come with 1/4-28 studs and nuts but did not so I emailed and they apologized and sent them out...a week later I receive 1 set for 1 hub(!)...so I email again, again apologized and said they'd re-send...still waiting. These were black oxide with zinc plated nuts and I wanted stainless so off to Ace I go after cars & coffee last Sunday...they only had 9 bolts...so I returned home then visited another Ace about 10 miles in the other direction and they had NO fine thread bolts!

Back home and to the internet...McMaster-Carr for the win...I order more than I need and pay shipping...but finally I have all SS bolts to complete the project...or so I thought!
Bolts arrive yesterday, they look great...but wouldn't you know it their hex heads were slightly bigger in diameter than Ace's, and these needed to sink flush all the way into the hub...whip out the Dremel and get the smallest little stone grinder I had and went to town, on both the hub and the sides of the hex bolt...Finally success!

Picked up the seat today and it looks fantastic...couldn't wait to mount it...here's the finished product, now we just wait on the body...hopefully by the end of the week.

New paint and graphics look awesome…Frank and I have worked several projects over the years and he’s always produced spectacular results.
I didn’t take it home today because Leong got accidentally lettered Leang…understandable since he didn’t have a clear shot…so he’s fixing that and I’ll pick it up on Monday.
🤙

I'm hoping we did The Hawaiian proud…
🤙

Last post for a while...early Christmas present to ME...Merry Christmas everyone!

The body is back on the chassis…took a bit of finagling working by myself…as would be expected when you disturb something that’s been in one piece for years.
😮

Finally I grabbed one of the gardeners and had him lift the back of the body ever so slightly and the front bolt slide right in where it attaches and tilts from the front.
The rear track is set by the width of the wheels and while the overall width is about 2” wider than previous, I’m glad I didn’t go any wider on the wheels or the would have rubbed.
On the fronts, I spaced them outward just where I wanted them with the body back on…I think they look great…once it’s back on the ground, the wheels will suck up in the body more, there’s almost an inch of travel.

You do good work, MCJohn, or have good work done for you. :cheers2:

What's a reupholster job like that cost? That's the biggest hurdle for me, having seatless karts and wanting them whole again and not with some ersatz lawnmower seat thrown in its place.

The place I went to (Henningsen in Spreckles) does high-end 30's-40's coachwork so I knew it wouldn't be cheap...this is black leather instead of vinyl...cost was $800...or just $200 more than I gave for the whole car, lol!

Don’t stop at the high dollar seat! The whole frame needs redoing and it needs a better engine, a horizontal shaft V-twin at minimum and it needs to be able to light up the tires. Needs a racing clutch.
