I found this bike on a job. Owner knew only that his grandkids messed it up. So im at a loss.

It's code stamp is 161fmj. Which from search says 125-250cc. It's on a dirtbike. The labels are all gone except CDI, electric start.
It has kick start and shifts fine . 1 down 4 up I think.
Question I'm looking for help on.
1]. How do I tell the actual cc.?
2]. Can I just kick start it or do I need the electric start?
3]. Is there air filter just a cone style or is there a box style ?
4]. The cover to the chain gear sprocket is gone. Are there easy replacement? [ I only can find replacement sides not just the one cap.

Any help would be appreciated Thank you.

It looks like a Kawasaki. I’m sorry but I can’t be of more help. We kinda only deal with mini bikes here. But I’m sure myself and others would like to follow along and watch you get it running and fix it up. Looks like it’s a 2 stroke engine also.

I don't think it's a 2 stroke. Your pictures aren't very good ( light reflection ) but I think I can see some sort of rocker covers on the head. Also the lower crank case has a oil fill port. A 2 stroke gets lubricated from the oil in the gas. Of course you can kick start it. That's what the kick start pedal is for. I'm color blind, so if it's yellow it's a Suzuki, or green then it's a Kawasaki. Or a Chinese imitation. Can you tell if it had a headlight at one time. Like a dual purpose bike. Real motocross bikes don't have electric start. Probably had the air cleaner inside some sort of box. You could put any air filter you want on it. I think you need a carburetor first.
Sure hope you got it cheap. It needs a lot of help. I wouldn't spend the effort to load it up into my truck if it was free. But that's just me. Do you have the rest of the parts, or just what we see in the picture. If that's all you got, walk away from it. You'll spend more than it's worth trying to finish it. BTW, Welcome to the forum. Not trying to be negative. Just trying to be realistic. From your questions, it doesn't sound like you have much experience with dirt bikes. Buy a running machine if that's what you want.

This was free. I took the carb off and cleaned it. Went through each port and cleaned it as well as marked pin placement and cleaned as well. I have experience in the stuff I own not in Everything that is made. My dirtbikes do not have electric start so just wanted to make sure. It has light green front plastic fender but metal light green rear fender. The gas tank is a yellow one with odd decals. I'll put up better photos today.

For the other parts to my questions or lack of experience. Of course there is room for improvement. No one can walk up to everything and just know what it is with out having some form of basic knowledge [ common sense] about things. Every motor I've ever looked at had the information stamped on it or can be found off the vin. The other comment is correct this is some redo version of the engine that's supposed to be there. My question was can any one help with what cc it is and the air filter does it need to be a box or a cone.
You can NOT just stick any old thing on there due to the flow and compression it gets. Even my kids coolster atv had to have a cone and the dude I bought it from put a box on it. That's why he sold it. [ it was chugging and not running right.]

I second the Chinese thought. The right crank case cover and rear brake lever scream Chinese design. Its definitely a 4 stroke, looks to have had a starter at one point that was removed. Usually dirt bike riders do this to save weight. If you are looking for a specific model, look at the frame where the front forks attach (the tripple tree). That area is where bikes usually have their info riveted on, or stuck on with stickers. Its kind of hidden, but look on each side.

Hopefully these are better photos. I did find a engraved number on the forks and I will be looking into that today.

Put everything together and changed oil and cleaned the gas tank as well as replaced the gas lines. Just tried to start it and it won't grab . Spark plug is dirty so I'll replace that when day light comes back. Anybody by chance know what the gap is?

Look for spark plug gaps on a 2000ish Honda XR150 and that will get you close. Or whatever close sized XR bike of the day. Might as well clean the carb while you are there, I bet that's the issue. Fuel turned on, about 2 pull gentle kicks, get the piston to TDC, choke on, one hard kick. Goodluck!

Carb has been cleaned out. The choke lever is messed up so I just have to hold it closed.
Petcock is weird it has a open can then a [o] symbol then a closed can . Just goofy way of it
When I said it won't grab. I meant it as in the bike will not fully start.

Check to see if all of the safety police switches are in the proper run function.
Mine had a clutch switch. A rear brake switch, and the key switch. Along with a neutral safety.
Iirc one was N/O the other was N/C
