I recently was given a Murray Explorer Frame, brand new, never been assembled. I am going to build it up with all new parts, but there is a lot of information I need before I start buying parts.

1. Not sure about the spindles (opposite of store bought) and not exactly sure on how to make them (need detailed picture)

2. Sprocket sizes and which chain

3. Tire sizes

4. Axle width

5. Torque converter ( 6" or 7" driven)

Any help will be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum!!

As for sprocket sizes, that depends on if you are using a jackshaft, a centrifugal clutch ot a TC. I assume you want a TC because you mentioned it. Tyre diameter also comes into play here. If you have 15" tyres, you can get away with a 6:1 or 7:1 ratio. Larger tyresd will mean you will have to gear lower (like 9:1).

All this depends on kart weight too. This includes the weight of the driver.

Thanks Landuse , trying to get a starting point. If I could find someone that owns one of these karts as is will to share the specs , then that would be a great start.

Ok so, the front spindles have the C bracket on the spindle, not the frame, that's simple enough; you can buy them, all you need to know is the height of the mounting tube & the angle of the mounting tube... or, you can make them yourself using 1/4" flat stock & a 5/8" bolt...

Wait for itsid to chime in, he'll find you an exploded parts view of the kart, that'll give you something to guide you...

[EDIT]
I missed the most vital info..
Code:
9	680215E700	Assembly, Spindle Lh
23	164X33 Spring, Compression G
26	680214E700	Assembly, Spindle Rh

12	Frontwheel 145/70 x 6 (680236 original order #)
Those spindles (A model) are no longer available..
B&C models have slightly different ones (identical on the pic, but different number)
left: 680215E549
right: 680214E549
~$20 each at www.partsandservice.com

Sprocket toothcounts are not mentioned, depicted are 10T on the jackshaft and 60T on the axle though

5. Torque converter ( 6" or 7" driven)

oh, missed that earlier.. neither! ;)
7.5" driven (the smaller series 40) is what was installed.

No crazykart, thank you, but I'm not..
there's much more that I don't know than what I do.
But in quite a few cases I know where to look or whom to ask;
that's all there is to it ;)

For the front spindles. BMI has "Spindle bracket with spring" part # 411326 I will have to have axle welded to bracket.

One question. The kingpin is at angle back and in. Welding axle straight out from bracket does not seem right. Seems like I should angle it level with ground??????
