Welp, fixing to lay down some cash for this beast. It's a basic Cub Cadet mower...small as they make them in a standard rider (42") but has the XT2 option which is a Kawasaki 18HP v-twin. This is a last years model (they don't offer the Kawasaki motor in them any longer) and I am making myself a smokin' arse deal on it. There is really no intention to mow a friggin' thing with it tho. Basically this will be nothing more than advertisement for my outdoor power division. Plans are to use it in parades, grand openings, display, etc.

Plan right off the top of my head....a simple build. Remove the deck and use just the outsides of it to make it "look" like it has a deck, lower it as low as it can go, get rid of the hydro axle and throw in a live axle, make the live axle connect to the motor somehow (one of the reasons I'm here)....lower the seat into the seat pan by about 8 or 10 inches for a lower CG....lower the hood and steering stand by 6 or 8 inches....maybe some exhaust...not sure just yet.

Was thinking this could be used as a drift mower. I think it would get lots of attention...high RPM's thru some loud exhaust drifting around another regular mower putting along in a parade? Might work for some attention? Maybe.

So, connecting a vertical shaft motor to a horizontal axle WITHOUT the use of a transmission...wonder how that could be accomplished? Twisted belt to a jackshaft with a centrifugal clutch on it? I would like to incorporate a way to release the drivetrain from the motor to allow random revs (again, for attention).

Whada y'all think?

i have built a few race mowers befor and the easiest way i know of and have done is use a live axle and like you sed, Twisted belt to a jackshaft with a centrifugal clutch on it or all the way to the axle and use a pully clutch on the engine depending on what size shaft you have must be a 1'' to work.
