Hiya chaps just signed up as a couple of my friends and I plan on building our first offroad buggy from scratch.. :lolgoku:

Basically we are staying as basic as possible for our first build so as not to discourage us if the going were to get tough, we have a lot of tools and equipment at hand so it shouldnt be too much of a challenge.

My first question is; We have a Honda GX390 engine (low revving and unlikely to scare us I know) from a genny, can anyone recommend a fairly cheapish clutch that will fit?

I know we have to take into considering how many teeth and what sprocket and weight etc but at the moment it is all guesstimating...

I have been on the ProKartEngines website which seems to sell everything but I'm not sure on which clutch I'll need..

Thanks and hello again!

Welcome to the forum.

I can tell you that the cheapest clutch you're gonna find for a GX390 will set you back a minimum of $150. The really bad news is, for an offroad buggy, you're better off with a torque converter which will cost you twice as much.

Unfortunately, there's no cheap way out of it; the only other solution is to find a cheap offroad bike engine

Ok so would you guys recommend a torque converter for this engine atleast £150 or wait for a small bike engine to come along?
