Well before this I got a free 2 seater called Black Fox Lxt with a Tecumseh. To say the least its not too fast. Definitely just a toy it seems. Everything about it seems light duty and cheap. But free is free so its the kids now.

So after having the taste for a kart I found a good deal for $50. It wasn't running and didn't have the right belt. I found out i has a Comet 40 Series clutch symmetrical. So I ordered the right belt which should be here in time for the weekend. I would like to know the brand of the frame if anyone has an Idea. I went and bought some padding and vinyl tonight to recover the seat. I will be doing the seat and repaint it black before the weekend.
The engine code is 7bsxs.2492hl which I believe is a 250cc 8hp. I used the belt it came with before t started burning it and man was this thing fast. If you watch the my videos you can see the condition it came in.

Also do these clutches need to be lubed? If so where and what to use?

The tires are 22 x 11 btw

Theres some videos on both of the carts on my youtube if anyone is interested.

Welcome to the forum. Can you tell us what the gearing is on the kart. Count the driven sprocket teeth and the axle sprocket teeth and post it here. You might be going slow because of incorrect gearing

Welcome! Please post some pictures of the clutches themselves and the other side of the kart. Good job on the Carter Trailblazer for just 50 bucks!

I watched the video. Nice score!!! Is there a bronze bushing on the driver (engine pulley) between the pulleys?

Well the black cart with the Tecumseh is the slow one. The red one with the briggs is VERY fast imo.

The red carts driven has 55 teeth and the driver has 12 teeth. I could be one or two off on the driven. Heres some pics of boths carts clutches atm.

Heres the red carts clutch below so u can see I don't think it has the bushing. it's symmetrical.

The pic below here is the black carts clutch. asymmetrical

Well I posted on here earlier today and it said it was waiting to be approved so ill try again now. Anyways I counted the teeth last night but if I remember correctly it has 12 on the driven sprocket and 55 on the axle sprocket.

Here's a couple pics of both karts clutches.

^this is the asymmetrical clutch on the black fox lxt kart(aka the cheap toy kart).

^here's the symmetrical clutch on the new kart.

forgot to say I ordered the correct belt for the new kart. The one it came with was too small.

Been working on getting it painted today so here's pics. I also made another youtube vid on the painting part. Redid the seat and head rest too. They only had green vinyl so I'm gonna get some black vinyl paint for it.

yea its what came with it. It's not the right one but i was able to drive it with it. I ordered the correct belt by using the comet website and getting some measurements off the kart. It will be here friday or saturday.

Anyways disassembled it for paint. Also I padded and vinyled the seat and head pad. They only had green vinyl so I'm gonna get some vinyl paint or stain whichever its called.

I made a vid on this on my youtube so check it out. should be done uploading soon.

The orange tractor in the first pic is a 1970 Sear Custom 10xl Garden tractor. I also have a 1968 Sears Super 12 Garden Tractor. I own quite a few more tractors including a Wheel Horse.

Here's a pic of my best three tractors below. The gray one is a 1979 Sears Lt 10/36. All three run mint.

The small looking belt is a tc belt made by comet but it is too small and not correct for that tc. It's just what came with it. I was able to drive it with it though. I ordered the correct belt by using the comet website and getting some measurements off the kart. It will be here friday or saturday.

55:12 = 4.58:1 Which, IMO, is a bit on the high side. A larger axle sprocket will give you better acceleration. However, it's a trade off; better acceleration = lower top speed
I wouldn't mind better acceleration, but I'm fine with a higher top speed. Thanks for the info though!

Edit: I recounted and it has 54 on the axle and 12 on the driven. So one less than I thought and a ratio of 4.5 now :p
