seems to be too big of a distance...
(that 5959 belt is for ~7" of distance between the two.)

BUT the jackshaft plate the driven unit is mounted to should be adjustable (IIRC up to .5" at least) so chances are PO moved it out since he accidentally bought the next bigger belt *shrugs*

check if you can move the jackshaft plate closer to the engine (keep in mind that JS plate is fixed to the engine with the engine bolts or (if still stock) with a set of studs [nuts on both ends]

Hey guys, I happened to find this belt which suggests it's for a 6" driven with a 7 3/8 center to center spacing.
belt

Would it not be better to use this (instead of 5959) rather than try to adjust my jackshaft, then have to potentially shorten my chain? Let me know if there's something I'm missing here and as always thanks for the help as I'm still learning these machines.

Hey guys, I think I found the culprit behind this belt confusion and wanted to share. I'm told that the spacers shown here on my motor should actually be below the jack shaft plate, not above so I'm guessing this happened when the stock motor was replaced. My hope is that by putting these spacers below the jackshaft, it will actually lower the motor (and driver unit) enough to get me to the correct center to center spacing to accomodate the correct (5959) belt. Thanks for everyone's continued help.

As soon as the new TAV units come in, I will make these changes and report back.

Well, apparently I've caught the same illness I see plagueing others on this site. I've decided to go ahead and pull this thing completely apart and rebuild. I will end this post and start a new one in the project log section and look forward to counting on the help from many of you along the way.

WOW.. took you a while, no?

I mean a month ago I linked the manuals that show how that jackshaft should be installed and where and how the long nuts sit on the studs.

But it proves a point: "We need as many pictures as possible from all different angles"
then we could have told you they're incorrectly installed
Also it shows that "RTFM" is not just a rude abbreviation, there's some meta truth in there :lolgoku:

Nevermind, as long as the problem is about to be solved,
we are glad you found the problem.

I have a tc 30 from gopowersports. Brand new. I bought it before i knew i didnt need it. I have it boxed up ready to return it, but Im willing to dump it off for $80 plus shipping. I bought it for $120. I have a new chain to go with it also. I believe it has a 10t and 12t sproket.

My advice would be to keep it. You never know when it may come in handy.

I am not opposed to keeping it either. But my kart is a carter talon that has a new gy6 motor. You think the tc is something i should hold on to incase I change motors at some point?
