New member, need throttle cable help

Trying to attach a throttle cable to the foot pedal rod so I can route it to the engine.

This go kart was left as junk at one of our farm gates. So I took it and I am trying to get it going for my kids. So, not all the parts were in tact. I’m speculating as to how it all goes.
The rod doesn’t have a hole in it to attach a cable through.

What’s best plan of attack here ?

Drill a hole in a washer the size of the cable and put it between the nut and spring then put the cable through. Thats how my streakers, rupp dart kart, yerfdog, and buddies carter all have it

Do you have a picture? I’m still not understanding how to mount the cable tube and then have something pull the cable

There isn’t a hole in the throttle rod to run cable through either.

How can I mount the cable body and where to attach the cable to?
