Hey Guys started new project with my daughter. Trying to learn as much as I can. We have a carbide 150cc that I am planing to change engine to predator 212cc
What size engine do you suggest ?Cool.
Take all these photos and post them again in Go Kart Discussion or Photo Gallery & Project Log, make a good title, and get that ball rolling. Good photos! I'd probably go bigger than the 212cc. That buggy is heavy

Yes the original had reverse from what I was told it was a Gy6. But I was told that engine was no good. Someone is charging me $300 to switch the axel to the other side and weld the caliper mount and engine mount to the other sideI couldn't say right off because the engine bay on those things are rather confining and I don't know what will fit. Honestly, I'd try to replace the engine with the same thing it originally had. The original had reverse, right?
Thank you so much i appreciate. I guess I put my 212cc in the market place and get a 420I’d think more like 420 and 40 series CVT. You’ll want the extra torque. Welcome!
Hello, I recently took on a very similar project.
just bought the 420cc for $299 at harbor freight. Now looking for the 40 seriesI’d think more like 420 and 40 series CVT. You’ll want the extra torque. Welcome!
I had no idea about this. Why is this? Is that why my damn CVT stays engaged sometimes?Have the engine there when you do the welding so you can get everything lined up perfectly. That's a pretty steep price, but if he does all the modifications the back end of the kart will need it's probably OK. When you get the 40 series torque converter, make sure to get a reverse wound spring for the driven clutch. Most people don't know about this and NONE of the advertisements included this. Every 40 series comes wound backwards and needs this modification if it is to be used on a plate system ( the easiest and most popular way ). The spring is about
$12 to $15 and you will need a set of snap ring plires. Easy to do. 15minutes.
