Hello all,

New here and been thinking about building myself a gokart from some craigslist find frame. I had the gokart bug for a while but never had my own always go to a track and rent gokarts. I don't know much about gokarts or the engines, etc. but hoping to learn more and more with this forum. I may be going about this all wrong but I figured for a couple of hundred bucks get a frame off craigslist or something like that then get a brand new predator 212cc (or if cheap enough 420cc) and slowly build it to my liking. I don't care too much it looking pretty but as long as I can get it up to 25-30mph I will be a happy camper :).

So if anyone in DFW is selling a frame that needs some TLC and is in the FS section I may be looking through it.

Don't try to attain a measured speed so much, making that your only focus. Slow speeds in a car for example, are magnified on a go kart that is only inches from the ground.

It's all about perception.

Welcome. Yay, another DFW area member.

I have a couple Carter Brothers yard karts and they do right around 30mph with the stock non hemi Predators. That mph is easily achievable with a predator, light kart and a 12 inch tire. I am running a 10 tooth clutch and a 54 tooth sprocket. They both rip pretty good and impressed the dirt bike guys on the trails at Texoma.

Ive got a manco dingo frame, 22" rear tires, engine, torque converter, seat, electric start briggs vanguard 8 hp with 40 series torque converter. Just needs some TLC and put back together (its literally all the way taken apart. If you want to buy it I can spend a half day in my garage fixing it up with you (Flower Mound, TX). Engine should run, but carb may need new gaskets/rebuild.
