Not too sure..
but metric tube comes in terrible odd sizes too (at least around here)
33mm and 27.5 and IDK.. odd stuff..
My best guess is to fit pipe ODs for half, three quarter and one inch pipe... *shrugs*

if so.. I see no reason for not using a pipe bender.

The key is pipe is measured by the INSIDE diameter as opposed to tube, which is measured by the OUTSIDE diameter so, ektoz, you should be looking for 3/4" pipe, which should be a little over an inch OD...

Pipe size isn't determined by it's inside diameter. For example 1 inch schedule 40 has a different inside diameter than 1 inch schedule 80. Yet you can thread both with the same die.

Have you ever seen the letters "NB" in the size description of pipe? It stands for NOMINAL BORE...

My information comes from various sources, including 2 different metal merchants; where did you find your information?

Are you converting measurements for our sake? Or does your country use standard or Imperial measurements?

I thought you would be using the metric system all the way.

I gotta go with Randy on this one.
There is only 1 size Pipe threader for each pipe size 1/2"3/4" 1"... and 1 size threaded cast Fittings. No matter the Pipe Schedule.
The pipe gets thicker wall, Smaller id but OD remains the same.

I think there's some crosstalking going on..

Tony is perfectly correct.. PIPE is measured by the internal diameter (NOMINAL DIAMETER)
and that is a fixed value..

Sure enough though the "effective real world internal diameter" for pipe is variable even with identical nominal bore (again effective bore is off almost ALWAYS).

Reason for that as Eric pointed out: to have matching fittings and threads by also offering a thicker or thinner wall thicknesses.
Still it's ID that pipe is measured in.
(take your 1" pipe thread for example it'll be 1.25" roughly...[NPT])

still a 1" tube thread will have a 1" OD no matter what, since tube is measured on the outside and nothing BUT the outside.

so yeah pipe's measurements are crap, but for a reason (fittings)

At least how I understand the both of your sides,
you mean the very same cake but chew on different side *shrugs*

Right "Pipe" and "Tube" are two different animals.

Yup! very different. :iagree:

And, how each is handled/bent is very different as well.

It seems to me that...
before recommending a type of material...
pipe or tube...
the first & main variable is:

What type of bender, are they using or do they plan on buying?

If the questioner already has or has access to a "pipe" bender...

it doesn't seem to make much sense, to recommend using tubing.

(bending tubing in a pipe bender usually/almost always doesn't turn out well)

I've seen kinda cheap (manual/hand crank) "advertised as" tubing benders on eBay, does anyone have one or any experience with?

* I'm a start a thread, to discuss this further. :idea2:

Sorry we totally high jacked your thread with Pipe and tube bending threading conversation.
But it is an introduce yourself thread, and good info has been Given.
Please know that when you start a build thread we DO NOT (usually) get so Off topic.
Again Welcome.
