Hi guys

Am new to DIY go karts, I came here searching some info about the Manco Dingo or Manco American Express,i really like them.
we don't have that kind of karts here in my country so am looking for some plans to make one.

I have some skills, here is the trike I build

Hi and welcome aboard.

I think Tony still has the plans for the AmEx he made (AusEx ;))
if he does, I'm sure he'll let you know ;)

I certainly do; however, as you'll see in the build log (see link below), I had the frame bent professionally because I don't have a tube bender, which accounted for around 40% of the build cost...

Nice Thread, it helped me, a friend of mine has a pipe bender so I think will be making it on next week! I will post pictures ;), what diameter of pipe did you used? 3/4?

I too am building a drift trike based off Colinfurze design. I really like how he did it with the seat over the engine vs. The more widely used design of engine behind the seat. I have a conduit bender I plan on using to make any future frames with 3/4" and 1" metal conduit. Fairly cheap way to get bends and frame material.

IMO, Colinfurze design is compact light powerful and best looking trike ever made, I love mine!!!!

My mom won't let me.
I live in the mountains and I am home schooled. Don't make fun of my mom, she can beat you up.

And we have cypress trees around these parts.

PS: I told you I was smarter than you.

Hey now, don't be giving the junior member a hard time, he'll learn on his own...

OH NO YOU DIDN'T... &, no, you're not; Alex (itsid) either has or can quickly find the answer to just about any question & is a highly respected member of our community... don't be dissin' on 'sid...

A pipe bender is not the same as a tube bender; a pipe bender is no good for bending 1" x 1.6mm WT...

OzFab ... But said:
IDK - maybe 10lbs. depending on the frame configuration.

But, for someone building their first kart, wouldn't that be like a 4th concern.

1 st ...Availability of bender - The guy already has a pipe bender accessible. (He would have to buy a "tube" bender)

2 nd ...Availability of material - ALL hardware stores (even in Cyprus, I would think) carry "water" pipe. (Is there a steel dist. nearby?)

3 rd ...& as I believe you reminded me, thicker walled material is easier to weld.

In my opinion, building a kart out of tube is better suited to more advanced builds or for competition.

The cost to benefit ratio seems to work out better. :2guns:

Thanks for the warm welcome
Sid you are correct, Cyprus island took the name by cypress trees because we have a lot.
I agree with you Functional Artist
I can find easy water pipes we call the “Class b” here I worked on my 4x4 roll cage
And is easier to weld bends really nice and is more rigid, I can live with the extra weight
Good thing I have a pick up truck ;)

here is the pipe bender

and here is my 4x4 I have done

If you're ok with the extra weight then go for it...

Extra weight means extra strength but, it also means extra necessary horsepower...
