New member ct200uex no tc?

Hey everyone! New to the forums!
Just blew my stock Coleman motor in the ct200uex and swapped a predator 212.
Found some articles about clutches vs torque converters

Any advice on what to use if I'm going to mostly off-roading

And advise is appreciated!

That's what I was thinking.
Again, being new to minibikes I wanted something pretty quick to drive in the streets yet handle the woods..
Guess I can't have the best of both worlds

sure you can... Torque Converter is not only tougher in the off road..
it also provides a slightly higher top speed (10% roughly)
since we talk about a series 30 TC here (being a 200cc engine.. yeye 212 samesame )

as long as you're not going to race that thing, the TC is the way to go.

Big Tires (Greater than 16") means you should be using a torque converter.
If using a regular clutch, you need a jackshaft to get compound reduction.
Or a really big rear sprocket. (96T #35 or 80T #40).
If using a regular clutch, you probably want around 8:1 gear ratio with 19" tires which will top out at 25mph at 3600 RPM or 36mph no governor

With a TC, you can use 50T : 8T and get 36 mph at 3600 RPM or around 50 MPH with no governor.
The TC with way more top end will also give you double the torque at take off (when using a CC with 8:1 gearing compared to a 30 series TC (6" Driven Unit) with 6.25:1 gearing).

Actually some of these stock minibikes with 19" tires and TC are geared to do about 59 mph at 3600 RPM. (MB200-2) Unless they use a smaller than 10T TC sprocket or a 7" driven unit.
I don't think that it is geared correctly, but it is what is is. I will be looking to replace the 38T that comes on the rear with something like a 50T when I do order mine. I'm not trying to spend 100% of my time below peak HP.

I'm probably going to purchase the 30 series and use the stock 50t rear sprocket.
I'm looking for a good acceleration, but good top speed

How would I get a 10:1 ratio of I go that route

Don't know if you could get 10:1 with that sprocket. You would need a 5 tooth. Never seen one.

You would have to do compound gearing and use a jackshaft.

With a clutch, something like the above.
10T clutch to 20T on Jackshaft,
Then 10T on other side of Jackshaft to 50T on rear.
