Hi There Everyone!
I am an avid car enthusiast since I can't remember. Recently retired and finding all kinds of projects to keep me busy!!!

I just picked up what I was told was a 67 Rupp Dart. It seems to have a newer Briggs engine installed. I need some help to identify exactly what year and model I have. It is overall in good shape, no major rust or rot. Its had some "modifications" as you can in the pics. I wish to restore it and make it reliable for the grand kids to ride around in.

I am sure I will ask many questions and hope to learn a lot from my fellow kart enthusiasts!!

...Steve

Thanks for the welcome wishes!
Maybe i should post my pics in the go kart discussion forum? Is this the wrong place to discuss my type of kart? Thanks... Steve

I see that angle now you mentioned it. It has been many years (45 or so), since i tinkered with a go kart. What strikes me as not original is the entire front steering setup. The side kart tubes are a large diameter, then a smaller diameter tube comes from those and goes into the front end frame. There is also a square tube welded to the smaller cross frame tube at the front, for what appears to be strengthening. It all has a “home made” vibe. Also the pedal mounts from pics i have reviewed on line, don’t seem to be a Rupp design. I am questioning the info i was told when i bought it. It may be a partial 67 Rupp Dart, but it has modifications. Does anyone have any other comments?

Here are some front end close up pics:
Welcome to the forum. You have a really nice older kart there.
Pancho, does my kart appear to be a Rupp? Or do you belive it to be something else?

455. I am no expert on identifying older frames. With those close-up shots in your 2nd set of pictures, it is obvious that there has been a lot of small modifications done to the kart. Get it running good and enjoy your time with your grandchildren. I do with mine and it's a lot of fun for both them and myself.

Danny and Pancho,
Your replies have kinda confirmed what i was thinking. Someone or some people made those mods in my carts past life. They seem to be solidly welded in but dont look the best. They can be cleaned up to look more presentable down the road.
I have oil in the Briggs and Stratton engine, it does make spark when you pull the cord. However the fuel looked like maple syrup. I have removed the tank, flushed it out and its ready to go back on. I am waiting on the carb rebuild kit I ordered so i can clean out the maple syrup thats in there!!!
I will make a new post in the kart forum once I get it running. Thanks!
