I'm new to engines but bought a two seater "karts international" go kart with 6HP Tecumseh OHH60 Torque converter engine for $200. Upon receiving the Go Kart, which started and ran, I noticed an erratic idle and a want to continue to accelerate when I let off the gas. I cleaned the t.c. and carb (with piano wire and a rubber nipple attachment on my air hose) and those items were resolved immediately. I adjusted the idle speed and now it idles well and drives great. The only issue at the moment is it is MUCH slower than before cleaning. I notice the rpm's will increase under load, such as going up a hill - however - prior to the cleaning the rpms would go this high even on level driving and it was faster. I think I will tinker with the governor.
So in doing all of this I realize something... where the heck is the choke??? Has it been removed? I'm not even certain I fully understand what a choke is yet - but eventually I want to be able to fix any and every small engine problem I encounter!...
That said, I do have a primer bulb, but so does my snow blower which also has a choke.
Is it possible this specific engine has no choke???
