Hey guys. New here. Im planning on finishing this here kart up. I have experience in fab work and welding. Im still a student so my budget is not the highest. A 212cc predator will be the powerplant still debating on whether i should fab up a live axle or go dead. Ill be using a knock off tav2 from ebay hopefully. What else? uploadfromtaptalk1456409808855.jpguploadfromtaptalk1456409817835.jpguploadfromtaptalk1456409825585.jpguploadfromtaptalk1456409832173.jpg

Are you going to put a roll bar on over those side rails or is the frame finished?

There doesnt appear to be much room back there, but if you move the seat up you'll have room for your engine/torque converter selection.

As far as axles, buy one

As i said before im on a really tight budget. Id rather fab a live axle with pillow blocks than buy one for 240

Got one sude of the steering figured. Is it easier to use both right hand tie rods or use a left thread one?uploadfromtaptalk1456500909135.jpg

If both sides are right hand thread, you have to unhook one end of the steering to adjust length on the tie rods....(as you tighten one end, the other loosens)...

With left and right hand threads, turning the rod will either shorten or lengthen it without disassembling.

Okay. Quick question. Whats the best steering column angle? 90 degrees from shaft to support?

First, can you find wheels that have a 3/4" keyed hub easily, or maybe go with 1".
No threading of ends are needed, just lock collars and setscrews...
With a keyed shaft, you can put the sprocket wherever you need it.
Pillow blocks seem to be the easiest.... No welding them on.

If possible. Can some one measure how high their sprocket on their cvt is from their engine base plate?

Another question. I was looking at some axles on bmi karts and theres a "live" axle for sale for 20 moola. What else does it need to be complete?

For an extra $25 you can get a 1inch keyed axel with threaded ends. 1 inch axel will give you alot more options when it comes to wheels, hubs for sprockets/brakes etc. Add another $20 and you can buy hangers that come with bearings, hangers and flanges so that would complete your axel aside from lock colars, sprockets etc
