New kart Help!!

hey im new to the forum and I've just got my first buggy and i have a couple questions.

it came with what I believes a 70's 335cc rotax sled engine on it and its having troubles starting, ive worked on motorcycles and four wheelers so im assuming this is similar, any suggestions? it has compression spark and fuel.

aswell as there is no suspension on it and id like to put some on the front at the least i've got a pretty good idea of what I want to do but is there any tips or tricks anyone could tell me before jumping in?

I think we need pics...

and no; one is missing,
since with fuel (in correct ratio and amount)
compression (enough)
and spark (enough and reasonably timed)
that thing will start and run of course.. nothing else would be needed.

not much to see in that pic regarding the engine issue
but looks to be a nice kart.

not sure suspension will improve the handling of the kart to be honest.
but if you know what you're doing I see no issue as of yet.

cannot even recognize the kart itself really..
I just hope it's nothing of any collectors value since that should always be kept original.

so I went and messed with the kart for a bit and there was a really janky kill switch installed so we pulled that out and ive got 3 wires coming from the engine and the spark plug wire when I tested for spark there was none at the plug. when we were trying minutes before with the switch installed there was spark at the switch but none at the plug, any help?

Really.. we cannot see what you see
and blind guessing is a baaaad thing (it can cause more harm than good)

And if -as you said- you worked on motorbikes and TAVs before you know that no switch ever should spark at all!
So there's something really fishy going on.
