Hey, I'm new here, I just picked up a Go Kart last weekend, first one I've ever owned. After looking through everything here I've determined its some sort of Manco. It goes good, it had a 3hp briggs on it and she GPS'd at 28.85mph, but it didn't have the low end I wanted so I picked up a HF Predator 212cc last night.

I'm almost done putting on the engine, ened to finish the chain lenght and hook up the throttle and she'll be ready to go. The paint is crappy so i want to repaint it this winter maybe and I've also got plans to possibly convert it over to a live axle with real brakes instead of the scrub brakes it has now.

I'll try to post pictures later but I'm pretty excited about this and so is my son who is 3. :cheers2:

Welcome to the forum, sounds like your son is going to have a nice new toy soon

Oh, and I think the reason your engine did not have enough "low end" was because your gearing was off. Are you using the same clutch/sprocket combo? If you are, could you post the teeth count on both?

This will help us determine your gearing to determine if you will encounter the same problem with your new predator.

Welcome again.

I am using the same clutch and sprocket. I do know the clutch has 12 teeth but I'm not sure about the wheel sprocket. I got the rest of the mounting done and hooked up the throttle, she screams! Will do a burn out like nothing, if I'm traveling along at maybe 10-15mph and floor it she'll spin on grass or dirt, my 3hp would never do that. I'm getting ready to gps this setup and I'll let you know how fast it is.

No problem, tried a GPS run but I guess my phone didn't get signal so I got no reading. And I don't want to peeve the neighbors so gps will have to wait.

I've attached some pics, the first two were from how it was when I got the kart, then the other three were from last night after I got the engine on. I'm going to run a new kill wire and clean up the low oil stuff, the first corner I went around she died because of the low oil shut off so it got disconnected.

Right now the engine fires up with the tinyest of pulls and it gets up to top speed like nothing. It really needs a smaller rear sprocket now or larger back tires, but I'm not sure how I would do the tires as far as brakes. I like the idea of doing a band brake or something like that, but I don't like the idea of having one tire braking. At least with the scrub brakes I can lock up both rears if I need to. And since the kart will carry my son I want it to have all the braking force I can get.

One last thing would be the bearings. The rear non drive tire's bearings are destroyed. Anyone have any idea what sort of bearings I need to get?

Nice kart. You are not going to be able to get bigger rear tyres without losing the scrub brake setup. Scrub brakes also do not work at all in wet weather

Thats why I was thinking about cutting the welds and re-welding it in a different spot that would work with bigger tires. And I don't plan to ride in the rain or when its wet out.
