I was turned on to this site by a fellow member over at Old Minibikes.Com. This is my first go kart, so I will probably need lots of help. If anyone can identify my kart, I would appreciate it. Thanks for having me.

If it turns out that my kart is nothing special, and it probably will, I won't go for a true restoration. I might put this contraption on it for an engine. I'll have to rework the motor mount or put a remote tank on it though. Just running ideas through my mind at the moment.

I don't know what kind of kart that is, but it looks like you're off to a good start with the engine and especially the CVT. Welcome to the forum!

looks like a late 50's early 60's Rupp.
I'll give you $50 for that vintage steel steering wheel if you don't plan on doing a period restore, once chromed it would be perfect for my 59 Bug.

Hey, thanks guys. I'm still looking through pictures etc. to see if I can ID it. Do you have any good places to ride?

To ride, theres a few places near the Ellenwood and Decatur line. If you want to ride in big parking-lots, convington highway/ columbia drive has alot of spots.

If you want parking garages your going to have to search or night ride downtown atlanta/some other spots.

I'll look again at the Rupps. I ruled them out to start with, but will need to look closer I guess. I'll keep you in mind for the steering wheel. It is a little bit bent, but will probably straighten out. Thanks for the reply.

Thanks. I originally planned to put the Tecumseh on a minibike, but have not found the right frame for it. It started out as a newer OHH60. I think that is the correct model. If you are interested, you can see the transformation on OMB.com under "homely Tecumseh finds a new home". It was a fun project.

Thanks. Are any of those places sponsored rides, or do people just show up and start riding? I don't want to get arrested. I'll check them out.

Hot dang! I just buzzed your thread over at OMB, and I've got to say that you've done phenomenal work on that engine! Your thread certainly explains a few things, though- When originally reading THIS thread, I was having a hard time figuring out the engine- looked like a nicely restored vintage Tec, but clearly a newer OHV... I love the trickery you pulled off. Excellent work!!!

Definitely! I think it will look fantastic on that chassis you have there. I understand that if the chassis is something particularly special, you'll want to restore it to factory spec... That said, I think that the engine has a great modern-retro thing going on, and I would love to see it on a similarly done chassis. In this case, you have a newer engine, done to look older- perhaps you could "modernize" the old chassis a bit and create an interesting theme.

That's probably what I'm going to do since I can't seem to find out that the frame is a super rare model that deserves to be restored. Plus, it has quite a few broken places on the frame that I'll have to weld up and add some support to. Also, the seat sides will need to be splayed out a little because my butt won't fit in the seat as it is. I'm always open to suggestions. Thanks.
