Started today, need to order some parts to get exact demensions down to continue.

Current plans are to power it with a 160cc pit bike motor and a modded GX200 clone motor. Swapping motor plates, hopefully being able to run both motors at seperate times.

The 160 will probably dominate time on the kart but the Honda will most likely fit into more race classes.

They Usually Use GX160 For Racing If Im Correct. GX200 Wont Give Yu Much Mre Power Than The GX160 ! Ive Heard From Here They Are Very Reliable And Dont Break Very Often.
I Have Seen Loads Of Threads And Posts Saying Pit-Bike Engine Broke Today So Go For A Honda Engine. :)

i agree with red, if you are just messing around and wan't to go fast/do burnouts in a parking lot, and a bit of racing, get the pit bike.
if you wan't to do a lot of racing at your local track, get the gx160.

I have a 1/2 mile track in my back yard and will probably be building it around a mile once I get some more time. I won't be taking it anywhere to race so it's not a huge deal.

The clone race classes are the 6.5HP GX200 clones, the Box Stock Project, Ducar, Harbor Freight clones, ect... I already have a kart running the clone motor, getting around 40mph out of it with an exhaust, filter, and jetting running 12/53 gearing. The gearing still leave me with enough power to spin through the dirt/clay corners of the track.

The 160 is still up in the air but it's the best shifter motor I could find so far. I want to stick with a 4-stroke and I want to stick with air cooling. Most of the quad motors are to heavy and will affect handling to much. I am up for other options though if you guys have any.

Thanks for looking.

It will be fine. I wanted to buy my friends rm125 motor cause it put out about 35-40 hp with some mods on it but the bike was in great shape and $3000. That's about $2950 out of the range of my budget.

I wish the pipe bender at our shop wasnt a crush type.. lol

wouldnt mind seeing some vids of your track etc :D

I would love to get a little racing type kart, however there isnt anywhere within like 2-300kms that i know of to ride it.. lol
(Well, aside from streets and parking lots, but meh, small town.. the cops would come and put an end to it in very short order!! lol)

cant wait to see more. I still think it would be interesting to build on of these things, so i'll be watching closely.. :D

No progress, getting spring projects taken care of. Boat and jet skis winterized, car put away for winter, and I need to get the rear bumper I built for my jeep painted before winter gets here.

It will probably be a month or so before I get anything else done. Probably should have waited a little before posting the thread I guess.

I'll try to get a video of the track before the snow flies.

Thanks for the compliments, I've had the bender forever and finally used it. Going to make some rocker guards/rock sliders for my Jeep pretty soon and use it for the steps.

I have a couple of different sets of plans as a guide but basically it will be a custom build. I'm only using them to get me an idea of where to go/what other people have done. One of the plans I believe is a Tony kart with measurements and the other one came from kartbuilding.net.

If they are purchased pans you should really buy your own set. It's someone's intellectual property they have the full rights to and how would you like it if you were selling plans but people were also giving them out? If they are purchased then I suggest against giving them out. But them there's always bit torrent.

hey man, do you think you can e-mail those plans with the measurements of the tony kart?? i really want to build one so badd

I printed them off months ago man, I have no idea where I got them. I found them searching in google for kart plans, I actually think the search result was from this forum but I could be wrong.

No pay plans for me, I just like to make it up as I go along.

That's the best way. I bought a set of plans but research on here is cheaper and more informative.
