Hey guys! You all got it! Absolutely no traction! throttle control is impossible! When you give it even a little bit, it just rips! Then the tires break loose, and you let off the gas, but your body keeps going forward, so you get on the gas again. It's soo hard to control! ITS PERFECT! I LOVE IT SO MUCH!

No! Shhhhh! Don't ruin my little cart! :p I can't stop thinking about how cool it is to have something that slams you into your seat and all over the place for that matter.

I have a little 2dr civic that is a blast to drive, but just makes a ton of noise when I get on her, I love her though! This little Honda go kart is my evil pleasure! I can't wait to find a course for it!

Tyler, I can't get my brakes to work, I am windering if it is taking air in somewhere, though there are no wet spots anywhere....I dunno what to do, I really believe this should lock the tires up!

I can still drift though, I just let off the gas then punch it a bit again! I CAN"T WAIT FOR NEXT WEEK!

Hahahah! I hate to admit it, but it does!

I am 22, and though I really do enjoy my noisy little car with my big obnoxious can on it, the go kart beats the hell out of it, don't tell her I said it though! I don't want them arguing in the garage!

Its pretty hard to concentrate on driving when your flopping around like that, looks like you need a real seat that holds ya in place:
http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G2100/?rtype=10
http://www.cometkartsales.com/store/seats/seats1.htm

You'd need a 4 point harness (after roll cage installation) all cinched down super tight to make your old seat hold you in well with all the the G-forces your kart produces. Most any of the seats I linked would probably hold you in great without any seat belts at all if you simply installed them so they leaned back a bit.

Your brakes:
My old kart had a similar problem of drawing in air but never leaking any brake fluid. It is possible, mine ended up being the bleeder screw seals. Instead of having conventional brake bleeders (w/pipe threads) like a car would, my old race kart simply had machine thread screws with a hard plastic washer in-between to achieve the seal. Those plastic washers on mine had cracked and were allowing a small amount of air to be drawn in every time I let off the brakes.

Yours might be drawing air in from some other location but my point here is that this situation can happen w/o any tale-tale signs of brake fluid leaking.

Thanks for the links anderkart!

I'll check out the seats, right now, I am done spending money though!

I think the screws might need some teflon tape goop or w/e it is. I'll keep digging, thanks for the suggestions!

Yer welcome, I was thinking you could improve your current seat by simply spacing its front mounts up a bit. (so your reclining back more) And then install any type of metal bracket your heels could push against as you drive. This would really help wedge you in and keep you from flopping forward/back so much.

(as your pushing against the heel-bracket to help hold you in, you'd also be transferring a bit more weight to the karts front end. This would probably end up giving your kart a bit more steering ability)

As far as sliding off the seats sides: I was thinking a couple of those removable car seat, head rests would make very cool seat side supports. Many of these pop right off and have a very sturdy mounting bracket built right in. If any of your buddies have an old car they're parting out = free. Even from a junk yard they'd probably only cost ya a couple bucks each... (black ones would look cool with your seat)

Thanks so much Anderkart! I was thinking about a cheap racing seat or something from a car and throwing it on here. I think it might be too big though, we will see, it would be cool.

I live right next to an LKQ which is a pretty huuuuuge junk yard. I could go see what they have.

I roll cage might not be a bad idea on this thing. I am more worried about my little engine getting hurt without a roll cage then my little empty head!

I'll keep thinking, really hoping I get to break it in pretty good tomorrow. I am taking it to a ATV park and its supposed to be almost 80 degrees tomorrow here in Maine. I am so excited!

Hey yer welcome, I know its kinda tough to concentrate on driving a fast kart when your seat wont hold ya in place. I've seen quite a few pretty nice/used race kart seats (like the ones I linked above) selling on ebay for under $20.

If you have a local race kart track you might try going down in the pits and asking the drivers if anyone has any used seats for sale. Quite a few kart racers end up going through a few different seats until they find the perfect fit. I've bought a couple used Tillett brand seats for $10 that had originally cost $150 or more. If you can find some that fit you guys, these type of seats are very comfortable and really hold you in.

I loved watching those videos even though ya'll didnt have much space to mess around with. I dont have a video camera so none of the toys we play on gets recorded.

This may be crazy talking but I think your belt may be a smidge too tight, not too much. Have you compared your center to center on the comet measurements? I know its not too far off but that could contribute to the clutch sticking.

Hey Blazkoiez,

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think the belt is good. The center distance between clutch and pulley is 12 5/8". Exactly where it should be. THe engine was just idling a bit high. I Figured it out.

The idle was the screw I was looking at, it just worked differently then I thought. Thanks so much!

I was thinking with only 1 kart you guys are probably gonna get bored with just driving around free-styling after just a few outings. If it was me and my buddys: I'd mark out a track, bring a stop watch and run some time trials to see who's the best driver.

Traffic cones work best for marking the track, if anyone cuts a corner or hits a cone their run would be disqualified. Walmart sells 3 packs of mini-cones pretty cheap or sometimes you can find large ones just sitting out beside the road for free... You'll probably find your track will build up berms after awhile allowing higher corner speeds. Besides adding a challenge to your driving, running on a track would also kinda centralise the damage being done to that dudes land.

Glad ya'll got a place to ride, I like that a random dirt bike passed by. One thing that really surprised me with all the rocks, dirt, dirt, etc, ya'll have no goggles or glasses, or eye protection at all. This isn't an old man saying this, I'm a 24 year old frat boy... losing an eye is not cool at all... wear something, even if its just some sweet aviators.

Okay, this seems impracticable and super dangerous, but have you considered you having someone sit on something like a trailer being pulled by the kart, I bet that would be an insane ride, very dangerous, but could be fun. I'm not saying by any means you should do this given how likely you'll get hurt, but have you thought about that before?

Sometimes I have to wonder if you are really 24... You seem much older and more cautious of everything.

Its not necessarily a bad thing. I just get a kick out of it. Hehe.

Thanks Eagle, heh.

You pushed the truck??? You dont mean pull? What was the height issue there? I would have figured you to be close running underneath his truck from the rear. Thats wild.
