Since we have been on the topic of the predator 212s can anyone point me in the right direction on some build ups? Maybe some links to fellow members that have built up their engines?

Gopowersports has a complete stage 1 kit available. I think thats what a stage 1 upgrade is. Maybe Im incorrect. Comes with the header, air filter, adapter and jet for your carb. They have another one the same thats a few buchs cheaper. I think it comes with a different pipe

GoPowersports is about a 15-20 minute drive from my front door. Great bunch of guys. It's pretty sweet to save the shipping!

Yea I'm a little farther north ;) lol

So what kind of power could I expect from an air filter, header , rejetted carb, billet flywheel, no govener and possibly a billet rod of I get bored and want to tear the engine completely down, I have heard anywhere from 8-11hp from just the stage 1 kits, apparently the stock air box and muffler is really that restricting?

That's pretty sweet. I found a guy to that sells parts not too far from me. Doesnt really save on shipping tho because its about 2 and a half hours drive each way and my car is a gas ***** but at least it saves me waiting a couple days on parts. The drive is cut alot shorter tho if Im already visiting grandma which is halfway in between. Lol and a visit to grandma usually gets me huge discounts on parts  That and sometimes I dont mind driving. Gives me something to do. I found another guy aswell that's way closer that I got my seat from but I dont think they really sell many parts. They're in the karting business but they rent them out I think. When I stopped in to get my seat they were working on a bunch of karts in the shop. They all had hefty bumpers on them like they were bumber cars but all of them had gas engines and I asked the guy and he said they rent them out

I've heard the same with massive increase just by replacing the air filter and exhaust. I always trumped it up to either a sales gimmick

I'm 6'5 and weigh 260 lbs, this is my Fox Vortex with my big butt in it going up a hill that I don't want to walk up. This is a Predator 212 with an Ebay header, Gopowerstorts airfilter, 36 main Jet, and .140 e tube.

GoPowersports is north of me.....they also have a track about 10-15 minutes east of me where they rent karts too. (And possibly rent track time) .

The average age of members on this forum is below the age of 20. To believe that youngsters are going to hold back on going full throttle s not reasonable.

I didn't/don't have access to the statistics of users on the forum. There was no mention of any youngster that was going to be driving it until the after the scenario was put out there.

The reason why we advocate a billet rod with stronger springs, is because it is a proven fact that rods can blow through the block if you are not careful.

Very true. Great point. I'm sure we can all agree that its a proven fact that ALL engines can blow a rod through the block if you are not careful and that billet rods could be advocated in every case if you are not careful. BUT, I do agree it is a much more of a critical point in this case to advocate a billet rod because it is a weak point in the engine.

Why waste an engine, or have potential injury?

Good point. I agree completely. I don't know why people take the risk or push an engine so hard to take the risk.

Members who have been on this forum for a while are more interested in safety than trying not to hurt peoples feelings.

While its commendable to give cautionary advise with a focus on safety, I think it can easily be handled without hurting other peoples feelings. And especially easy to do without deliberately attacking a person with the sole purpose of trying to not only hurt their feelings but also insinuate that the person lacks knowledge just because they don't agree with someone based on circumstances outside, and in addition to, the current known situation.

I was not wrong nor does it show a lack of knowledge to suggest that stiffer valve springs because of the additional rpm's encountered by taking the governor off would cause valve float. Its a proven fact that valve float not only reduces efficiency (power) but also causes damage to the valve seat by slamming back against it due to the valve springs not being strong enough to pull the valve back with the gentle profile of the cam and weakens the the spring and accompanying components that could cause said components to fail which would cause the valve to drop down into the combustion chamber and cause catastrophic damage. It also can cause the piston to hit the valve which causes bending, chipping or breaking of the valve.

The only way that me suggesting stiffer valve springs to help control the valves at a higher rpm than the stock springs were designed for is bad advice is to add scenarios that don't have anything to do with the legitimacy of whether I am wright or wrong in my assessment of the mechanics of the engine.

The fact that you have not thrown a rod does not mean that it is not possible, and more likely to happen if you keep the stock rod.

I agree. That's a fact and is just plain ol' common sense.

I am not going to take that chance with my kids, or advise anyone else to do it.

Good. I'm not going to either. There was no mention of a kid riding it until after the scenario was put out there, so I had no reason to assume that was the case.

I'm done arguing on this issue. If you or anyone else wants to keep adding scenarios, what-if's, excuses and trying to rationalize his comments then go for it. I pleaded my case and feel like I was justified and correct in my assessment, advice and arguements given all the the ACTUAL information and facts provided, without a bunch of back stepping scenarios and conditioned responses. If you disagree with my reasoning and arguement I'm ok with that... it says more about you than about the validity and correctness of my advice and knowledge.

Ok so I have been having trouble finding a sprocket for this creation of mine, the rearend is from a Chinese atv, 4 bolt pattern 68mm across, all I can find for it are 50t sprockets, now bmi let's has a few sprockets with multi patterns on them that measure In inches up to 60t, they also have 2 some that don't have any bolt holes drilled at all that have the correct inside bore to go over my axle but they also are only available on 50t being the largest they have so I'm stuck between using a 50t sprocket or just hoping that one of the multi bolt pattern sprockets with bolt onto my metric axle and have a 60t rearend, what should I do?

I would go with a jackshaft set up anyway. That way you can gear it down more, use a more common setup to mount different gears if you want to switch gearing and still utilize your axle sprocket you have now. It solves the gearing problem, makes it much more versatile and easier to change gearing in the futurr and you don't have to keep hunting for the right size axle gear.

A jackshaft is different than a tc. A jackshaft is a static gearing system using chains and sprockets. It just adds two more sprockets into the driveline. Look up gokart jackshafts to get an idea of what I'm talking about. You could also do a jackshaft and a tc if you wanted a wider powerband and more speed.

That is by saying "tc" you mean torque converter that uses the belt and the pulley sizes chand as you accelerate.

Ok i get what your saying, my plan was to install a tav2 and use either a 50t or 60 t rear sprocket, I will look into the jack shaft idea also
