Hi guys new guy hear from idaho. And im currently building a racing lawn mower and need help with gearing it. Ive read on it and still dont under stand it. But im looking for high tq and about 25mph. So i have a 14 tooth clutch and 10" tires. The rig with me on it is about 300 pounds. So i think this will work. 14t to a 14t? On a jack shaft then a 60t on the jack shaft to a 10t on the trans Axel. So a 1:1 to a 6:1 = 7:1 right?

And the engine is a 13 hp with 20ft pounds at 2100rpm and is built to go to 7000rpm. The clutch is a dbr manual clutch.

Ok so a 14 60 10 20 gives me a 8.71 :1 and my transaxel is a 3 speed 7.5:1 5:1 and third is 3:1. Should i down the sprockets to work with these or whould that be good? Would 1st give me a 16:1 or a 1.2:1 gearing confuses me.

Uhh, ok, that makes a difference, maybe you should've led with the transaxle details...

My question now is why do you need compound gears into a T/A?

I have a honda clone 13 hp horizontal shaft engine that rotates counter clock ways so the shaft comes out the left side and the input of the TA is on the right. The engine was givin to me very cheep so im going with it. And thank you for you help. Should i just go to a solid axel? I would like to keep the three speed tho.
