New guy with some questions about a kart

Hey I have the opportunity to buy this kart and need some opinions on it.
It has a home built frame and a 250cc 2stroke air cooled engine.
The thing looks kind of narrow for the power it makes,...
Does it look like a good design, and can I just fit wider tires on it?
Is it worth $300?

needs some air scoops. I'd pay that much for a good running 250 2 stroke

get him down to 275. yea it needs a better cooling design, unless he drives it in reverse lol.

Yeah it definately needs scoops an expansion chamber and some wider rear tires as a minimum

I believe with a decent pipe and a little porting I can get 45 horsepower out of her pretty easily.
My main concern is the chassis though.
