I'm new here, and new to go kart building. I've been looking around the site, and I think I've found the right place for the information I'll need!

I'm currently planning my first build, but I'm really not sure what parts I'm going to need. It's going to be a 24V setup with a live axle, with the whole thing being assembled from scratch. I figured that I would do better to find people with the knowledge, rather than stumble through the project by trial and error.

Welcome to the forum! Yep! You found the right place! itsid is our resident expert on electric projects....(although I'm sure there are others.)

He's in Germany, so he's probably sleeping while we're awake...(sometimes! )

Soooo....start firing away with the questions! (We can answer all of them! )

EDIT: Do me one favor though....scroll up to the top of the page...click on "Quick Links", then "Profile" and fill out your location, and anything else you'd like to share....if you look to the upper right of my post....you'll see at how with a quick glance, you can see where I'm at. In a short time....your introduction location will be forgotten...especially when you start another thread asking questions.

Please consider entering your build in this years build off contest.
It does not matter it is your first build. The contest runs now through December.
So far there are only 2 builders, You could be the third!

Thanks, guys!

I'm in the Utica/Rome area.

As far as the build-off, I'm not sure if I'll get that far by December. Depends on parts cost, making things fit, and finding the time around family life to get everything assembled. I'm also making a fiberglass body, which is taking much longer that I originally anticipated.
