Hi,

Engine running fine after new carb, oil, filters etc, however I note three yellow oil ports - a high one on motor with dipstick where I drained & replaced oil (21 oz 30w) - the other two I assume are transmission/clutch oil ports(?) - see pics - I'm searching but meanwhile, can anyone advise on specs/capacity for the two low ports? Any other lube advice for this beast is welcomed. I'm also looking learn how to adjust the governer on this but found a video or two on that.
Thanks,

I'm not 100% sure but I believe the 2 lower ports are used for draining and the upper is used for checking the oil level and filling easier. Don't quote me though lol.

Hi, don’t know brand - Yard star? Lower yellow port beneath engine oil port smells like transmission fluid and there’s a drain bolt beneath it. Single low yellow port on other side smells like oil but I didn’t see a “drain”. Engine oil drain was on opposite side from engine oil port (the high one). Gonna open up lower drain beneath two yellow ports tomorrow. When I say port I’m referring to the yellow screw caps.

Thanks a lot all - That manual looks very useful! Thanks! - I'm convinced the lower "ports" concern the clutch which is not addressed in the engine manuals - as indicated port beneath engine oil port is definitely trans fluid - appears the fill level is even with the port. Single low port on "carb side" fill level appears to be the same. Seeking to find the specs/type for these fluids.

Not sure why.
The reasoning is motorcycle oils and most diesel motor oils lack friction modifiers, unlike passenger car oil.

These are not good for wet clutchs, hence why motorcycle/ATV oil lacks them.
(transmission and motor oil is shared in the crankcase)

But for this application, it's probally trivial. If the manufacturer does not specify a specific oil,
don't worry about it. Any 30w will suffice.

Thanks very much again - yes it's a wet clutch - I checked two lower ports again - I guess both are oil - I will drain via plug beneath two ports and see if it drains both lower ports - I put 30w in the engine oil - per above will add 10w-30 to clutch oil port. Btw, Will upload vid to youtube & share link.

Here's a governor tutorial by Kohler that you may know all about already, but it's helpful to see where you can make an adjustment. It's as simple as loosening the pinch joint that secures the governor lever to the governor shaft rising up out of the block, and twisting it a couple of degrees in the appropriate direction and retightening. One way will raise the setpoint rpm, the other will lower it.

Thanks very much! Really appreciate all the insights! Will review all the vids - BTW unscrewing plug on forward bottom edge drained BOTH lower ports. Ha.
