Hey guys! Im ian im 14 years old and this is my attempt at a "rat rod." kinda, its like a nice rat rod if that makes any sense!
It has a 5.5 intek 206 b&s motor
Started off like this, i paid 0$ traded it for a pair of old gm headers.

then i started tearing it down

then stripped it

then painted it with bedliner

then painted tires and powdercoated (all red stuff)

that is how it sits now. currently i am waiting on bearings and a sprocket. i plan and making the kill switch to the motor a little pull-string light bulb switch with a little guy hanging from it under the steering wheel. it will also act as a anti-theft device, because when i shut it off you will have to pull it one more time to start it or it will be shorted out. i also am making the gas tank out of a old fire extinguisher. thanks dude! c&c welcome!

looks cool you should put a stack on the motor then take a coil and spark plug and put it in the pipe atach the coil to the fly wheel and it will shoot flames

There's a little more to it than that.

Ratrodder- Nice kart. As it sits, it looks more like an old school hot rod than anything rat. Welcome to the forum!

How tall are your back tyres?

I just had a terrible thought: A bike disc may be too tall for your wheels. My daughters kart has 13s & I used one of the smallest discs I could find & there's only a little over 1" of ground clearance on the disc. Hopefully, you will find a smaller setup.

Climb onto FleaBay, and have a look at pit bike brakes. Same deal as motorcycle stuff, but scaled down a bit. You should be able to lay hands on a rotor that will meet your clearnace needs. The pit bike rotors I have are about 7", and I would imagine others are similar.

How thick is your axle? I see your wheels are pretty far away from your gokart. Wouldn't this create too much tension in the axle, so it can bend?

Now there's a thought; I'd forgotten about them. You could probably get a whole setup new for under $50

i have 11" tires and a 1" thick axel. i dont really see andway to get the wheels closer though!

Most simply, move the wheels inboard toward the bearings. A more complex solution would be to add outriggers to the frame to move the bearings outboard toward the wheels.
