Hi , Im Nigel. Recently bought the Red buggy as a surprise for my 10yr old for Xmas but when he jumped in his legs were tooo long. So decided had to sell and look for something bigger..
So the red 1 sold and this blue 1 was bought.. As you can see i stripped it and repainted . I had to free up all the steering. the engine runs fine .
the couple of issues id like some advice with ....
1. I cant seem to get "a brake pedal" - i have bled it and to me looks to have got all the air out .. But still wont get a firm pedal or stop the buggy ? any tips or help.
2. I Want to put a kill switch on the front so he can kill the engine if needs be. Any help on how i extend the wiring from the standard on/off switch located on the engine.

Any help would be much appreciated .

Does the pedal feel like its hitting a brick wall? Does it cause the calipers to compress at all?

Do you have some pictures of the problem area?

Hi.. Not got any pictures.. The pedal just goes to the bottom of its travel and no does not go hard like you would expect .
have taken the caliper off and when pressing pedal back and forth the pads to come in and grips a spanner . But needs severel pumps to get to it . I am wondering if air is still in it and not bled properly ? going to give it another go over weekend .

If the pedal depresses all the way, res is filled, and youre not losing fluid anywhere, sounds like air in the line. Only other thing would be a faulty master.

It takes me about 10 minutes to get the air out of two small lines going to my front wheels.

Sometimes, little air bubbles like to 'stick' to the inside of old brake lines. Just enough air to cause the issue you have. Tap the brake line with something light as you crack the valve.

Sounds like you have the typical chinese impossible to bleed brake system.
there are hundreds of posts about the same problem. There are probably dozens of cures, and everyone has their fav. Mine is gravity assist bleeding. It is the only fix that worked for me. As the name implys gravety does the work. Get some sandwiches, beer and or whiskey a good cigar or other smoking material and a comfy chair.
Don't forget the brake fluid. Top off the MC and crack the bleeders. Sit back and watch, fill the MC as needed. Could take hours.
Also. If the calipers are installed with the bleeders at the low point, nothing will bleed them. Bleeders must always be at the high point. Amazing how many times ive seen that problem.

UPDATE - Now after tapping brake line and lifting front end up so gravity helps and fitting a clear tube to the bleed nipple so can see bubbles coming out i got a couple out .... I don't have a pedal like a car does ... BUT when pressed it now stops the wheels rotating !! So getting there slowly and will let lad try again this weekend....

Next questions... What do i need to do to stop it moving when i start it up ... I have it lifted on wood blocks and wheels just spin away ... when the choke lever is moved it does change speed and stop .. But feel this isnt the answer as guess choke should be fully off when warm and running .... Is the the idle screw adjustment ??

Also can i replace this exhaust for something a bit better looking for him ? More sound and looks not performance or speed ...

Was looking at the Stage 1 upgrade but not confident with the air filter / carb that needs swapping ?

Thanks for any advice

Here is a cooler sounding exhaust for cheap. Also for the wiring for the kill switch it should be pretty simple if you have some wire around for it, or you could buy some. There should be two wires that hook up to the kill switch on the engine so you'd cut and splice those, then connect the longer wires to them by soldering and heatshrinking or just twisting the exposed parts of the wire together real tight and electrical taping them. Then you run your wires up to the front or wherever your gonna put your kill switch. If its the same switch from the engine no biggie your just adding more wire but if its a different switch there will be 3 "poles" and you'd hook one wire to the middle pole and one to the first or third pole. If the switch has a label like "On Off" or something and your switch does the opposite just switch from the first pole to the third one or vise versa.

Just how big a boy are we talking about? Even adults "assume the kart riding position" when jumping in. The go kart is not a chaise lounge with wheels, it's cramped even for adults (by design).

Keep trying these brake systems take forever to bleed. Be patient and make sure the master cylinder is in the correct position and never let it run out of fluid when bleeding. One thing I do first is a gravity bleed. Remove the cap on the master cylinder and open the bleeder on the caliper slightly. Let it do it's thing just don't forget.
