hey everyone. my boss had this motor sitting in our back shed and so i asked if he had any plans for it and he said no, so i asked it i could have it and he told me i could. it came off our z mower about two years ago. it still ran good, it just had a ticking/knocking noise, so they replaced it. i looked up the model number today though. its a kohler ch750 and i read that it puts out 30 hp! and i was just thinking how bad it would be to build a kart with 30 hp. i dont know anything about gokarts, i do know a little bit about mowers though, so i was just seeing if i could get some suggestions on what i should do with this.

Personally, I wouldn't be putting that monster on a go kart; a mini buggy yes but, not a go kart...

"It just had a ticking/knocking noise", that could be more serious than you think; anything from preignition to a bad big end...

Yeah, I've started leaning toward the idea of a making a buggy rather than a go kart. And I'm not sure what the ticking noise is. It still ran good and the mower still mowed good, just when it was running at high rpms you could Hear this fast paced ticking noise, but if you didn't know what the motor sounded like before, you can barely recognize it. You think i could it take it to a small engines shop and get it diagnosed?
