Got a kart recently got it running perfect had some fun with it and discovered all 4 tires are bad. Tires on it now are 13×5.00-6 on split 4 bolt rims. Probably going to put the same size tires on the front, but I want to put larger ones on the back to give the chain some more clearance and get more traction. What's the largest tire I can put on the same rim? Will be used on and off-road but mostly on concrete. Thanks :D

Biggest I've seen for a 5-6 rim was 18"

Keep in mind changing to a bigger tire will greatly affect you spped, torque, and strain put on you clutch.

What is the gear ratio and what clutch do you have? (centrifugal or torque converter)

That kinda depends on your clutch or torque converter as well as gear ratios. If you have a centrifugal clutch a good rule of thumb is 15" max. Count your teeth on axle sprocket and clutch. Divide the two to get a gear ratio. example 72 axle /12 clutch= 6:1. This is a good all around gear ratio. Anyway I think you can get 16x6x6 tires for six inch rims. Turf saver tires make a good tire for general use light off roading and good on concrete.

Thanks for the advice. Has a centrifugal clutch I'll check gear ratio tomorrow. Think 15×6-6 would work for a standard gear ratio?

Yep:thumbsup: I have 15x6x6 on a kart with the 6:1 in my example. No problems burning any clutches and spins tires for donuts (180*s) in the dirt.
