Hi all, my father and I are planning on building a go kart from a good ole Honda motorcycle, with 360cc's. New to karts, but not to engines and cars. Just need help with a few things like steering and suspension, and a few other little things like length and width. Have a decent MIG at 250 amps I believe, a not so nice arc with 160 amps. Planning on building it from scratch and on a budget. Already have the metal. Probably should add that this will be a dirt racer, powerful enough to climb any hills that may be encountered off road, but fast and safe on road. Have the rack and pinion off a taurus, shocks off of the motorcycle, and maybe two lawn tractors at my disposal. Any help is highly appreciated.

It is just a ratio. for example 48" wheelbase (L) would be 36" wide, or 60" L x 45w. And this is just a generality to be close to. Also I'm referring to a yard kart or racer and I miss read you are talking full suspension and off road Kart. So maybe disregard this, I dunno

I'm thinking independent front with a "jointed" rear engine area. It will not be a dedicated off road vehicle, just a basic multi terrain.

The 4:3 ratio applied to vehicles of any size; it's a good base point to start at to keep the turning circle in check; you can go wider, that will improve stability but, try not to go too much longer...

I fir one am looking forward to what you come up with...
