New to the forum but have been around karts since I was a kid. Got out of the hobby but recently came across an old bird engineering kart in bad shape but did run. I teach collision repair so me and my students stretched it, done some metal fab, installed a new engine and finished it off with some fresh teal ish blue DuPont base clear (Not actual color name lol). Anyways here's a picture.

Welcome aboard!

Good looking kart as well. I like the color on it, kind of a older 50's color with the teal and white.

Thanks for sharing.

Yeah...."teal" wouldn't be my first choice to describe the shade.....maybe "powder" or "baby" blue.....

Welcome to the forum......and....just for grins...bet you a nickel you haven't painted a car that shade.....

The image makes the color look very blue but it isn't. We've used the color several times and thought it'd work on the kart. We were going to go back red but last minute decided to do something different but still bright. Thanks for the kind words.

What is the car in the background? The front says early 60's Camaro to me....but something looks a little funny about the back end????

That's not the old late 50's shade that was kind of "turquoise" looking is it??? That's a favorite of mine....and I could see how it might appear different if the light wasn't just right.....

First Camaro was '67.
Pictured is '70 to '73.

How much was kart lengthened?
Was handling adversely affected?

Sorry....should have been clearer....although a Ford man....I knew that the first Camaros were made in what is actually is the LATE 60's..... they were the first Camaros...which made them the EARLY models....

I didn't realize it was already into the 70's....but....something still looks funny about the back....maybe a combination of my ignorance of Chebbies...and camera angle.....

Yes the color is based off of the color from the 50s but my paint guy mixed it a little bluer than I like.
We lengthened it 10 inches. I couldn't really fit on it before but it handles just fine as far as I can tell.
The car is a 77 camaro with a 70 1/2 split bumper front end. We have installed a atk performace 383 with a procharger. Motor dyno was 505hp and 515 tq. We're aiming for the addition of the procharger to put it around 700-750hp.
