Hey Guys!

I just purchased a little single seater for $167 and was looking around when i found this site. I Live in Northern MN and this is my First GoKart. Here is what i know...

212cc Predator Engine (2 hours on motor)
Fixed Axle (One wheel Wonder)
Old School Breaks
5 inch wheels with 10 Inch tires on back
3.5 inch wheels with 8? inch tires on front

It currently runs and drives PERFECTLY! But....

I plan on doing a few things to this kart this winter with my buddies, we are all Mechanical Engineering students with full access to a big shop including water jet, mini mills, cnc, laser engravers, welders ect...

I would like to keep the mods under $150 but we'll see what happens.

Here are the plans:
ADD KILL SWITCH!
1" Live Axle Conversion
Mechanical Disk, or Drum brakes
Hand Controlled Throttle and Breaks
Roll-Bar or cage
Side body Panels and Splash guards
New seat (maybe)
Re-Paint in forest green
Paint wheels Gold

Thanks for stopping by! I'm excited to get the mods going!

I looked up the 415 and it looks like that is a double seater... Now I'm curious what it actually is. When I get home tonight I will take a look at the frame and see what I can find!

$167??:lolgoku;
not $165, not $170... $167.
Let me guess... craigslist...

Haha no it was an old neighbor that raced stock cars. He had 3 karts so we just split the $500 between 3 of us.

My brother's has a longer wheelbase but shorter pedal to seat, that looks like it had a roll cage at one time but was chopped off. The other was a small double with a full cage

All 3 have brand new 212cc Predators on them.

Oh... That makes sense lol.
Sounds like some cool karts. How old are you in and your brothers? I don't need a specific age or any age at all if you don't feel comfortable. Just trying to figure out if your in your teens or your 40's!

God Ive said those EXACT words... SSSSsssssoooooo many times w/ my kart(BIG read/links break out the coffee n pull up a chair). Yours is the 1 seater version of what mine 'used' to be... needless to say I kept thinking up upgrades, and now... not sure what to classify her as.

... now youre just braggin! :lolgoku: Im jelous.

Been there too... think I pasted the 150$ mark by my 3rd mod/fab(not counting the purchase of an engine).

Hand Controlled Throttle and Breaks
Roll-Bar or cage

My link (above) can 'assist' in all of those cept the cage, panels and hand controllers... but everything else has been done as you are wanting to do to yours.

I wont say I 'alter'/upgrade my kart more than anyone else has in a yrs period, but even I have to admit my fabrications/upgrades are at times abit, over the edge and dramatic. Thanks to the info supplied by the members here, I took ALL of the 'kids-toy' outta the kart and am 'still' upgrading (ADHD bout fabrications).

Feel free to immitate anything you see off my page(s), no permissions required... you wouldnt be the first. When ya gotta question, ask... if you have several questions 'try' to limit em to 1 post, in the best guessed 'subject' section... youll get a better congregation of info givers, and noone is bouncing from post to post answering em. If you start a 'build log' it can be handy if you ever get to needing the info bout what all youve done to the kart, be it for sale or proof that it is your kart:thumbsup:.

I'm 20 and my little bro is 18. Both over 6' tall so it's kinda funny to see us ripping around in these little things.

Awesome! I'll be sure to take a look at it! I already started a Log and plan on updating that as I go. First step will probably be kill switch, live axle and brakes starting next month ( gotta ride it for a little while before I tear it apart and the snow flies!)

Not sure if I need the live axle! Went for a fun ride this AM and it felt pretty good!

What are the advantages of live vs fixed?

Honestly, the only real advantage is more traction (read better transfer of power to the driving surface); to be fair, there are probably more disadvantages...
