Hi every body please forgive my horrible english. I am new to this I'm more into the moped stuff. I have a question about what kind or size of clutch should I buy. the engine its a 8hp L type briggs 1 inche shaft the car its 1wd 55 teeth sproket 14 inche tall tire. I can take the crankshaft to the machine shop to reduce the shaft at 3/4 and new key way for free ,and buy a cheap 40 bucks clutch. will that work or I need the bigger clutch ??? thanks in advance.. PD. the car is one seater

If having the shaft machined to 3/4" is an option for you, then do it. It will be fine with 8hp.
