Hi there, my name is Jesse. I'm 35 and have 3 kids (13,8,5). I had a go kart about ten years ago and have wanting another. A couple weeks ago I was window shopping on Facebook market place and came accross a two seater for $75, messaged him and didn't hear back for 3 days. When he messaged back saying he still had it, the price was dropped to $60 so the wife and I went to have a look at it and we came home with a new project. It was missing a few bits (and still is) but, the expensive parts were there. I bought a cheap eBay clutch and now regret it as it won't pull me(6'3" and 300lbs). It has a 5.5 ohv briggs on it and is geared 6:1 with 15in diameter rear tires. This site has already been very helpful as I have been lurking for the last week or so.

I look forward to getting to know you guys and hope maybe I can be of help at some point too!

Welcome! With a 6:1 ratio, 15" tyres are a bit too large. You will either have to change things like sprockets to get a ratio of about 7 or 8:1 Either a larger sprocket on the axle, or smaller on the clutch

Thanks for confirming what I was already thinking. I ordered some 13 inch tall tires for the rear and a Max Torque clutch. If that isn't enough, then I will switch to #35 chain and sprockets to get the gear ratio lower.
