New guy from Cincinnati

Hi - I'm new here, from Cincinnati, Ohio. I dont currently have a kart, but thinking about buying the yellow one in the attached picture. Any comments on this kart from the more experienced members here? (I do not know the exact model - I think I recall seeing "Yerf Dog" written on it)

Also - there seems to be an issue with the torque converter. The kart wants to take off as soon as you start the motor (Predator 212cc). Would this just indicate that all or a portion of the torque converter components are due for replacement?

If you can afford it. Buy it. Poboy is right so far. but with more detail and pics we can help you fix it.

Thanks for the responses. Sorry if the question was too vague. I thought that might be a common symptom to a common issue. With a typical centrifugal (sp?) clutch, if the kart starts moving forward as soon as the engine is running, I thought that's a sign of a clutch that's worn out. I guess it's not that simple with a torque converter.

I havent bought the kart yet, and so I dont know a whole lot about it - but knowing about this problem, I was hoping to figure out how much money/parts I'll have to put into it before it works properly....helping me to decide if I should go for it or keep looking.

Buy it as cheap as you can, stating that it DEFINITELY needs work and money put into it. When you get it, we will show you how to get it back into shape, for next to nothing..... As long as there are not damaged parts.....

You see Yerf Dog on the seat but, that doesn't mean it is a Yerf Dog, it's not like any Yerf Dog I've ever seen; in fact, it looks a bit home made to me; I could be wrong but, I've never seen anything like it...

The problem with the torque converter could be as simple as the belt is too small or it could be something a lot more sinister; either way, it should be fixable without too much drama...

Just out of curiosity, I decided to do a little google research to confirm if this is a real Yerf dog or not. In the images search results, I actually came across several karts that look almost identical to this one - and one of the search results included a link to a thread on this forum:

Assuming the info in the thread above is correct, it sounds like there's a known safety issue with the steering for this kart. If the fix (which I dont fully understand yet) requires welding, I'll probably need to walk away from this one.

Well then, it appears I was wrong, it is a Yerf Dog after all...

It's very possible the steering issue has already been fixed; even if it hasn't, I'm sure we can talk you through it; you may get away with a bolt on fix; if not, I'm sure you know someone who can weld...
