NEW GUY Building First Cart used frame NEED HELP!!

Valve floa is when the springs cant close the valves as fast as the cam keeps knocking them open this as mentioned above slows the motor down and acts as a governor. in a side valve design like the briggs 5hp since the valves CAN NOT touch the piston no matter what they do floating wont hurt anything

okay, so how come I've heard so many times that if you remove the governor from a 5hp Briggs, that it will destroy itself eventually anyhow, but even faster if you over-rev ?

Keep a load on it and you won't have any problems.

I would go to www.4cycle.com seeing as its a race frame and 4 cycle is a race site.

See I told you Northernkarts, these guys are great about sharing resources. and yep what Kenny says is right on the money. after talking to a local Kart racing shop they told me the same thing. that your frame is designed for three times the speed you were thinking about.
