hi everyone hows it going.. my names matt im a glass blower from southern california.. ive always been into offroad stuff and building something from nothing.. i build model cars for a side hobby and blow glass as well.. ive made and modified a few things, my brother inlaw and i have built a fully caged "trophy kart" type thing in the past but didnt get to finish it cause some motor plans fell through and we ended up scrapping it but recently after coming across these things called tot rods for kids i want to make one for myself to have fun with..
everything from frame to body will be scratch built, the plan is to shoot for a mini chevy c10 truck that will be roughly the size of a trophy kart.. might be a 1 seater or 2 havent really decided yet.. 2 would be fun for sure.. i have a 2005 honda trx 450 quad that i dont really use anymore so i plan on using the 450 motor in the mini truck for a power plant which should give it some pretty nice get up and go power.. i also plan on putting the suspension on a air ride using bags or air shocks so i can slam it to the ground.. the air compressor will be housed under the hood of the truck and the motor will sit behind the seats pretty much in the bed.. 5 gears,a clutch, disc breaks and the radiator from the quad will all be used and relocated if needed.. i havent decided if i want to use the stock rear swing arm or build my own.. which i might do that way i can link it for better traction and shock mounting.. i already started taking some parts off the quad to strip it down so ill start a build thread once i pick up some metal to start the frame and cage.. if it all goes as planned i should have a nice, fast, lil truck/kart that im pretty sure will pop a wheelie in a drag race lol.. and hoping for a top speed of about 50-60mph depending on weight
