Hi guys, I recently found an Austech scorpion 6.5 horsepower engine (Honda clone) in a blue bin, took it home, tested it and it works fine.
Only a few problems with the engine

Rusted fuel tank

Rusted exhaust

and some random water pump thing attached to the engine output (how could i forget the name of that thing!)

so... i am having a problem with what i will need for the engine:

Will i need a clutch?

What size sprocket will i need?

etc

The karts chassis i'm going to build
and aside from those problems i'm fine.

I'm a n00b with Go Karts and my account name was some random thing that popped into my head.

What shaft comes out of the engine? If it has a water pump attachment occasionally it will not have a 3/4" straight shaft, it might be step down, splined, or tapered.

Yeah i don't know yet as i'm trying to get the pump off.
it's just held on by some screws.
I;ll get it off this avo.

You can buy a new muffler if this motor is decent. And the fuel tank is probably ok.

Hey guys i took off some of the pump and the shaft is round with a small raised bar and is threaded in the middle.

Take a picture for us and we'll be able to tell you if its worth having it turned down or even feasible.

Have a good look at that "small raised bar". Odds are good it will come off. It's called a "key".

if its threaded at the end i know what it looks like and it wont work for a cluch or tc you can always rig something though

Since its a clone you can buy a new crank on ebay for like 50 bucks and it will be all good.
