I just bought a Manco Dingo 812E... It's fun but I want more power I was hoping this site might help me out. I'm 37 with two little boys. I have not had a go kart since I was little myself so now it's my little guys turn (only as passengers; Okay it's really for Daddy).

Tecumseh 12hp (it only does 30-35mph)

Welcome! As far as speed goes, with a 12hp , you could mostlikely go with a sprocket change. But nothing too wild. Like if you have a 10 tooth sprocket, try an 11 or 12 tooth.... I could be wrong but, i think that will give you a few (5+) mph's.... What size tires do you have and what is the tooth count on both your sprockets?
If I'm not mistaken, 30-35 is about right for that model kart. Most yard karts only hit 35 max.... but thats fast ,low to the ground, especially for a kid.....

thanks for the warm welcome... yes i totally used my kiddies as an excuse and the only person i fooled was me lol...

not sure on tire size or sprocket tooth count but tomorrow i will have both numbers and post them. I'd like to make the kart fast as snot and just buy a more mild one for the kids as they get older hehe...

Yup- the excuse is a winner every time! Unfortunately, it seems to only work for so long, and then your loved ones start wising up. Don't be too surprised if someone you know is secretly plotting an intervention. ;)
