Hello Everyone, I'm closer to 50 than 40 and just picked up a couple of karts for my children and myself. The karts are a critter 2 w/ a 5hp power sport and a Kenbar st959 9hp power sport. Of course I want to mod the Kenbar already and checking out 16hp motors.

As a child in the 70's I had minibikes from 3hp to 6hp. The 6hp had front shocks and a torque converter and was incredibly fast.
I'm glad I found this forum and look forward to learning.:wai:

I would love to put a 13 or 16 hp engine into the kenbar. That's why I am glad I found this awesome forum. I am hoping for a straight swap. I have found some great deals on duramax 16hp engines. The torque converter on my Kenbar is a comet 20, and the motor is a 9hp powersport. I thought that was a no no with a min comet 30. So the research continues. Thanks for the welcome!

YES, Koenig does mean king in German. I am not German, but our dogs are.

It is unfortunately not going to be a straight swap. The footprint of the larger engine is different, so you will have to drill new mounting holes. This means things are not going to line up anymore.

A 30 series comet can be used with a 9HP engine, it is just not recommended. They are rated up to 8 HP. With a 9, the belts will wear faster. You won't be able to use it with a 13 HP or 16 HP engine though. You will have to get the comet 40 series.

Do you know how to make the pictures larger? I'll try and figure it out.
