Hello all, I bought a used kart for my daughter for Christmas a couple years back and have been tinkering with it since. I will post pics later because I don't know much about it. I replaced the engine that was on it with a Predator 212 from Harbor Freight when I bought it, but recently we moved and didn't have time to store it properly. Long story short, the carb is full of water, and it needs brakes. right now it has a dual disk set-up but maybe they were improperly aligned? The pads are worn really unevenly and it is just plain dangerous right now without brakes... While looking at it the other day it got me thinking about getting it into good shape for her and maybe some daughter dad time (do you have any idea how hard it is to relate to a 14 Y.O. girlie girl????) Plus I am on pins and needles waiting to hear back on a frame that supposedly just needs an engine that was posted on Craig's List but I won't know until Sat. on how that is going to pan out. I have four kids and one Kart so I would love to get them into working on this stuff with me right now I'm wanting to get a two seater also.

You wanna hope both valves are closed, otherwise, some of that water could've made its way into the bore, which doesn't end well...

A thorough clean of the carb & tank should be enough to make then usable again...

Disc calipers are meant to float; it's possible yours aren't, which would explain the uneven wear...

When my daughter was 7, she helped me build her go kart; now she's 10 & showing less interest in all things mechaincal but, still has fun riding them. By the time she's 14, it's anyones guess as to whether she'll have any interest left...

I have four kids and one Kart

...& you "get bored easy"? How do you have time to get bored? :lolgoku:

Half breeder, I am in the Fayetteville area. Fabroman, thanks for the tips, I was actually trying to figure out how to get the calipers to stay still in the brackets. glad I didn't get that far. I think perhaps the discs are not lined up with the calipers well?? also, I don't know if they are getting enough "throw" as in the pedal goes all the way down but doesn't get enough squeeze. BTW the calipers are the similar to the earhart (sp?) type that northern tools carries. Also I picked up a new kart this weekend well, a frame any ways (super excited about it) I think it's an old Azusa but just needs a new brake band, engine, clutch, seat, and some paint.new kart.jpg
