Welcome to the forum. Even though it's in pretty rough shape, that was a bargain at twice what you paid for it. Nice score.

Yea its a contraption and it was engineered that way. I got it running today but the carb is shot so I'll try to find a new one. This engine is a 135232 0038 01 and it has a Kehin 62gws121 carb on it which I'm sure isn't right. The manifold comes off at around 30° and the carb mounting bolts are parallel with the ground where most of the Briggs carbs I see have the canted bolting pattern to mount straight to the block. I might try an Amazon Mikuni and see if that will work.

It is going to be a project. Phase I is get it driving the best it can in current form. Phase II will be a 12” stretch. Phase III will be an engine and power transmission swap. All phases will be triggered by how much fun we are having.

Looks solid enough to beat the bushes with. Might drill that left front spindle and rear left axle for a casellated nut and cotter pin. They might tend to run the nut off if you side load them hard turning especially with some worn bearings in the middle of your fun.

Thats a good call. Its running great with the Chi-kuni and mismatched intake, the clutch had a saw blade shoved in it which is probably to make up for the wrong belt. New belt and clutch cleaning and it hits 26mph with my 215lbs in it. So far we have $180 into this and we are having a blast.
