Xander here, not new to karting but new to the site. Was into racing when I was a kid. Now I have some sort of an offroad kart. I don't really have a clue about the year or make, it does have a 6.5 Tecumseh Power Sport and a torque converter. Trying to find some info about engines and converters.

My little brother keeps your streets safe at night while you sleep....
First thing you need to know is that that engine you have is almost always gonna give you the fits.... I hate them....
Post pics of what you have... What kind of problems are you currently experiencing?

Thanks for the welcomes. Ill post up some pics shortly *ie tomorrow.
The only problem now is a lack of power. I plan on a bigger engine with some mods. Also going to put a suspension on the front. Ill get some pics up soon.

6.5hp should be "adequate" for most karts but, being a Tecumseh, you're probably only getting around 5hp; they are great engines but, the carbs let them down & it would be getting a bit tired; also, since Tecumseh are now defunct, finding parts is becoming more difficult, high performance parts are non existant...

There are a LOT of members who are extremely happy with the Harbor Freight 212cc Predator engine, for which there is an abundance of high performance parts available...

Ok here are some pics. Please note I am ASME certified welder P-X through P-11, thus the welds on this cart are not mine.

You see, there's the thing; if you, as a certified welder, are questioning the existing welds on the frame, do you really think it's a good idea to replace the engine with one that had double the existing power?

Well when I do the engine I am going to strip it down. Thought I would take the top off measure it up and weld a roll cage onto the chassis. Now it's just bolted on it is scary. I'm also going to beef up the front and widen the track by 4 inches. Bigger ATV tires front and rear and some sort of a fender or splash guard over the front tires. Where I live the roads are all gravel and dirt. That will all be for next spring though. Now I'm just gonna ride it a bit for fun. I'm really just reading up all I can on it and other builds to get some ideas a knowledge.
