Hi all,

So I have a hammerhead 80T. I am putting a new engine and got a Duromax with electric start - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00BZI1TSS/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Figured it would be a bolt in. Then I saw the shaft is shorter on this engine than the original! This is about 2 1/4" and the original was 3".
I have attached a pic that shows how much I have for the outer clutch piece. About 1/4" Is this enough? Do have have to trim that spacer down a little?

Thanks,
Joe

dont forget to put some blue loctite on your shaft bolt so it doesnt come off. That is a commmon problem people have. If you torque it to spec thats great, but i doubt most people even do that.

I usually grab the shaft and then use my 4lb sledge hammer a few times on a wrench taped on. That has never failed me yet.

Just don't use a hammer to turn the tap when you're repairing the threads after removing the broken bolt.:lolgoku:

So I go to Lowe's and grab 2 bolts - 5/16" 24 thread. One is 2 1/2" long and bottoms out before touching clutch. The other is 2" long and has little thread engagement....figures - there is no 2 1/4" long bolt at the box stores! The brighter/closer pic is of the thread just touching the shaft - not screwed in at all. As you can see not much thread engagement once you screw it in. The other pic shows where the 2 1/2" bolt bottoms out - can you get away with washer and lock washer, or 2 washers on this?

I agree with ezcome-ezgo. Just cut a little under 1/4" off the 2 1/2" bolt and file it down the rest of the way, so that its flat.
