Hello everyone. Im in need of some help. I recently got into the world of go kart racing and am new to the go kart world but do have experience with engines. I purchased a build it your self yellow clone engine. I'm having problems keeping the engine running. The engine will start and run but only for a couple seconds? I'm guessing it's flooding out or running out of fuel right away. The kart is set up with a walbro fuel pump although I'm not positive on the way I have it hooked up. I'm not sure what else I could add to help anyone out on my problem? The engine fires and runs but only for a few seconds. Any input from you guys is much appreciated!!! Thank you

SO, the engine uses a walbro pump but a standard carb, correct? If so, disconnect the fuel line from the pump & use an elevated tank to supply the carb with fuel; at the very least, this will either rule out or confirm whether the pump is the problem...

The carb is bored and jetted .615 and I have tried with both a gravity feed and also with different set ups on the fuel pump.both with the same results of the engine firing but only staying running for a second or two. To Me seems like it's running out of fuel. Sounds good when it's running. Ill try and get some pics up. Could be a carb problem to I suppose ? Or the pump not working. Thanks for replying guys!

The carb is the carb that came with the kit. CNc bored and jetted .615. I just slapped it on the engine. Didn't look at the internals of the carb. Maybe I'll check to see if everything looks good there.

Also.thought this might be the next question. Yes the carb is getting fuel. At least I can see the fuel line feeding the cab is full. And I loosened the screw on the side of the carb bowl to check for fuel there and it came pouring out. Thanks again guys .

If its firing up then its getting air, fuel and spark. If it doesnt stay running then one of those stopped working. check your throttle linkage and choke mechanism. Does it start up fast then just die off?

Clone carb tuning help?

Hello everyone. Got my last problem figured out! Now I'm having a issue with the throttle response of the yellow clone engine. The engine runs great at idle but at about half throttle the engine starts to cut out! And recommendations on how to tune these or what may be my problem is greatly appreciated!! Carb is a bored and jetted .615 that came with a you build it kit. Haven't touched the jets inside or anything. Thanks

Yes, also check to make sure you didn't accidentally install the plastic carb insulator upside down.
They're slightly off-center and can only make a good seal if installed the correct way
