Sorry to post this you guys. But I just bought a new Greyhound 6 hp from H.F. --started using it 3 weeks ago --changed oil after first 20 hours - -cleaned stock air filter and surrounding foam - -no mods yet (will do intake, exhaust and billet rods later) - -still has govenor and oil sensor - -use it in huge backyard mostly grass, timber and some dirt - It's taking more and more pulls to start these days. Kids ride it everyday at mid power and every so often I get on it and ride it maxxed out for 30 second-1 minute stretches for about 10-20 minutes. Why is it getting harder to start? I don't mind tearing it completely apart and replacing some parts, but intake is clean. I'm happy with performance of such a cheap engine, but I have to know why it's so hard to start. Thanks guys. I know how brutal people can be for posting in the wrong area of a forum, but I did try to search it and came up with nothing.

As long as your using fresh gasoline and your carb mounting bolts are still tight, I agree you might as well return it and exchange for a new one.

if it keeps getting harder to start you probably have some gummed up jets in the card, take it apart and clean out all the jets.

Check compression. I don't know about these clones as I've never owned or worked on one. But assuming by their price, they are pretty cheaply manufactured.

I like my genuine motors :]
