Hello all,

I found this site last night, and it looks like there is a lot of really good info here. I have been collecting parts to make myself a cart or 2, and I think it is time to start getting a bit more serious.

I have plans for a few carts, I have a 49C engine I want to put in a power wheels jeep ( if I can find the jeep)

I have a 2 stroke 125CC Yamaha Dirtbike engine I want to mount into a Cart, and i have a brand new 6.5 HP Princess Auto Engine that is looking for a cart too. So i have a few options, just need to find a frame design and start building.

I am sure I will have lots of questions in the next few months.

My main question now is if there is a good cart supply place in Canada other then P.A. I am looking for frame kits, and steering components.

Welcome to the forum Mike.

As you may have noticed, there are a few Canadian members here; most notably toystory_4wd. He should be along soon.

If there's anything to know about Canadian suppliers, he'll know.

Good luck with your karts; we'll want to see build logs :)

Whazzap? I saw the "T" beacon in the sky, and came whipping home from work!!! LOL

Welcome to the forum, Mike! I don't know what's out your way for bona fide kart shops. Not much here that I am aware of. I rely mostly upon P.A. and TSC for what I need.

By the way- "kart" starts with a "k", eh?
...Just ribbin' ya!

Hey I'm new, take it easy. KART lesson learned. ha

Thanks for the warm welcome. With all the snow we have, I should be looking at putting a track on my KART instead of tires. I might get more use out of it.

I am not sure if there are an TSC's out this way. There was one in Winnipeg, but I think that has closed down.

Now that we mention this... Does anyone know how this started? I mean, in ALL other applications, we use a "c". shopping cart, hand cart, golf cart. Go Kart?

I think it has something to do with a trade mark waaaay back when, but I'm not sure...

Paul- stop it. I'm getting tyred of this :D

I did a quick google search, and one site had this to say:

Dictionary Definition : go-cart1.a small carriage for young children to ride in; stroller. 2.a small framework with casters, wheels, etc., in which children learn to walk; walker. 3.a handcart. 4.kart. KART: a small, light, low-slung, four-wheeled vehicle, usually powered by a gasoline engine, capable of speeds up to 60 miles per hour (96 km/h), and used for racing or recreation.

So it looks like a cart is human powered and a kart is engine powered??
