New Build Mini Monster Kart

[RP14]

First kart I am starting with the Edge Products plans, learning as I go.
Looking for links or places to buy kart parts such as steering assy, gearing, etc. I'd like this to be a crawler to start. Grandson is 4 and don't need speed. He loves his RC Crawler and has a blast with it. Figure a great start for him. Hopefully the other grandkids get involved.
Right now I am working on getting my garage set up for the build when temps get into the sub zeros.
Once frame is built, I am going to build the body, saw someone build one on here somewhere and gives me a lot of ideas.
Will post some photos when I get started in probably couple months, right now I want to collect build parts. Have the frame steel and few Honda engines to start. Hopefully find the converter for the engines.

Open to suggestions and ideas.

MFG Supply is also a good source. Their unusual, unheard of flat rate shipping charge for most items means you can fill up large box full of stuff for little money. I did 4 tires, 4 tubes, bulk chain and some brake parts most recently. That’s a pretty heavy box.

Was scrolling thru Youtube and saw a temu build of a 4x4 kart. I'd love to do a crawler with 4x4, found a kit on amazon and going to check it out unless someone knows where to get the 4x4 axle setup, etc. I think I will start with the basic setup so I know what I am doing then go from there. Just bought a welder/cutter, working on welding table for indoor use during the cold sub zero nights and to catch the slag/smoke. Current project is a tubing bender, etc...

Buy a scrap 4 wheeler, modify the frame to fit a van body? Save a bunch of fabricating and parts compatibility issues.

Have a few riding mowers, I'll look into what I can use and try to get creative. I do have a 05 Suzuki ATV but having issues with it running to speed, only wants to stay around 25 mph at full throttle. Rebuilt carb, replaced clutch belt, valve adjustments, compression, etc. Went thru the whole unit and still cannot find the issue. Might make it a winter project getting the engine running at full speed for a different project?
Who knows... Any ideas?
Otherwise I'll put up a mower on the bench and brainstorm while waiting on building the mini truck frame.

Mowers are great for kids to ride. The speed and power are about right, they are reliable and the stamped steel frames are simple to modify and weld things onto.
